This site exists because of a moment at a kitchen sink in September 2001.
Standing behind someone I respected deeply, right after 9/11 and the passage of Bush’s Patriot Act — he was expressing his concerns about what we were giving up in the name of safety. My response, confident and completely wrong, was: “You have nothing to fear if you have done nothing wrong.”
Years later I realized I was the one who didn’t understand what was really going on.
This site is the result of that awakening — and everything that followed. It is a reference resource for people who want to make decisions based on facts rather than fear, on critical thought rather than emotional manipulation, on reality rather than carefully crafted narrative.
M. Scott Peck’s work on the nature of evil asks a question I return to constantly: how do good people, genuinely wanting to support good, end up supporting evil? Not bad people. Good people.
Farzad Mesbahi’s book Abundance or Collapse frames the fork in the road we face right now. The path we choose — individually and collectively — will define what comes next.
The fork is real. This site exists to help you see it clearly.
